Overall aim: to gain insight into injury and repair of human skeletal muscle, with primary focus on the activity of human muscle stem cells (satellite cells) and muscle extracellular matrix. Investigations into potent influencing factors, such as changed levels of inflammation and loading, are designed with the goal of deepening our understanding of the ageing muscle. In addition to this, we are currently studying cross-talk between the muscle and its extracellular matrix, throughout the muscle as well as specifically at the myotendinous junction, in human models of regeneration and overload. |
