The overall aim of ISMC is to investigate how the muscle-tendon unit adapts to short and long term alterations in mechanical loading, including that associated with physical training, inactivity and immobilization in conjunction with injury, and aging. In particular we focus on the adaptation of tendon and connective tissue of muscle. Our long term objective is to improve the treatment of physical activity and work related injuries of the connective tissue of the muscle-tendon unit, which are responsible for a considerable number of all lost working days in Denmark.
